About Maria Cardona
Psychotherapist - Clinical Social Worker
Maria L. Cardona obtained a master’s in social work from the Adelphi University School for Social Work in 2005 and brings nearly 20 years of compassionate experience in correctional health, outpatient community mental health, and private practice. She assumes a human-centered approach to working with adults, adolescents and youth, specializing in psychological evaluations, depression, anxiety, and post-traumatic stress disorder. With a strong foundation in immigrants’ rights and evidence-based treatment, Ms. Cardona is a trusted authority in conducting hardship and asylum waiver evaluations, and providing ongoing care for associated conditions. She integrates evidence-based interventions such as cognitive-behavioral and mindfulness approaches to help individuals find greater freedom and enjoyment in their lives. Prior to her work with MLC Mental Services, she was a care provider with the Hispanic Counseling Center and FEGS Health and Human Services.
