Telehealth Appointments
What is telehealth?
-
Telehealth is a virtual option for seeing your therapist without going to their office. You can have a telehealth visit online using your computer, tablet, or smartphone. Telehealth also allows you to send messages with your therapist safely.
Are telehealth visits private?
-
Your telehealth appointment is protected by privacy rules.
-
Telehealth visits are just as private as meeting with a therapist face to face.
-
Telehealth is safe. You will use a computer, tablet, or phone to speak with your therapist during your telehealth visit. Your information is secure, just like when you visit your therapists ’s office.
How do I prepare for a virtual appointment?
-
Make a list of things you want to talk about. Keep paper and a pen close to take notes during the visit.
-
Ask for accommodations if needed (screen reader, closed captioning, or other help).
-
Choose a quiet place with good access to the internet. Make sure you are comfortable and can talk openly.
-
Test your technology. Make sure your internet and the device you are using for the visit works well.
-
Keep your camera stable. Put your computer on flat surface or use a device to hold up your phone or tablet.
-
Check sound by testing your speakers or earphones and adjust the volume if needed.
-
Shut down other applications on your device to increase internet speed.
